Kristensen, Ulanowski Set Personal Bests at Grace College Invitational

PUC-PeregrinsTwo runners set personal bests for the Purdue University Calumet women’s cross country team in the Peregrines’ sixth-place finish in Saturday’s Lancer Invitational at Grace College.

Freshman Heather Kristensen (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) continued to show improvement, shaving 20 seconds off her previous best to finish with a time of 21:04, good for 19th place in Saturday’s 5K field of 66.

The mark also propelled her into the Top 5 (fifth overall) of best 5K times in school history.

Fellow classmate Ashley Ulanowski (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) also set a new season best, running a time of 22:22 to place 38th overall. Holly Opat (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) placed in the top 50 with her time of 23:18 (48th) and Christine Lewandowski (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll) finished 53rd with a time of 23:54.

Rounding out the Peregrines’ lineup was freshman Jesenia Zendejas (Highland, Ind./Highland) in 57th place with a time of 24:23.

The Peregrines return to action Friday when both teams travel to Mishawaka, Ind., for the Bethel College Invitational.
