Ivy Tech Community College to host Career Fair and Transfer Day this Halloween

On Thursday, October 31, Ivy Tech Community College, located at 3100 Ivy Tech Drive, Valparaiso, IN, will be hosting a Spooktacular Career Fair and Transfer Day. The event is open to the public, and participants will have the opportunity to meet with over 15 northwest Indiana employers as well as discuss transfer options with plenty of four-year institutions.

“We are excited to offer this event with a twist this year since it takes place on Halloween,” said Abbey Durojaye, Ivy Tech Community College Valparaiso Director of Career Development and Employer Engagement. This is the campus’s second annual fall career fair and will feature employers from Lake, Porter, and La Porte counties. “While the economy may be doing well, employers and colleges have opportunities that can offer ways to improve your life through additional education or a new career path.”

Employers who will be in attendance include T&B Tube, La Porte Hospital, Opportunity Enterprises, and much more, along with over a dozen four-year institutions. “We want to give students and community members an opportunity to meet potential employers and four-year institutions we work with for transfer opportunities,” said Cindi Czapla, Transfer Advocate and Academic Advisor at Ivy Tech. Faculty and staff will also be on hand to answer questions about Ivy Tech programs, and student life and support services.

“We are proud to host events like this that connect our community with northwest Indiana’s workforce,” said Ivy Tech Community College Valparaiso Chancellor Aco Sikoski. “It’s the perfect opportunity for Hoosiers to explore paths that can lead to a rewarding career.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring plenty of copies of their resumes, and professional attire is recommended. A free career closet is also available on campus for anyone in need of professional attire.
