Ivy Tech Community College names Vice Chancellor of Student Success

Ivy Tech Community College has named Dr. Countance Anderson as vice chancellor of Student Success for the Valparaiso campus to lead staff in enhancing the campus’ student support and development services. She will join Ivy Tech this April to lead and support student success efforts at Ivy Tech’s locations in Valparaiso, Michigan City, and La Porte.

Dr. Anderson currently serves as vice president for Student Success and Services at Shawnee Community College in Ullin, IL. "I am excited to be a part of the Ivy Tech Valparaiso leadership team and am committed to helping students achieve their educational objective, be it certificate or degree completion,” said Anderson. “My passion is to serve as an advocate for students and to support them in their academic and career endeavors.”

During her time at Shawnee, Dr. Anderson was responsible for student services departments such as Admissions, Records, Advising, Tutoring, Testing Services, and Student Life. While at Shawnee, Anderson also served as the Title IX coordinator, chief judicial officer and Campus Threat Assessment Team leader.

“We are very pleased with Dr. Anderson’s decision to join our dynamic team at Ivy Tech,” said Aco Sikoski, chancellor of Ivy Tech’s Valparaiso campus. “Her knowledge and leadership experience in higher education will serve our students well.”

Before joining Shawnee Community College, Dr. Anderson was the director of registration and orientation at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, TN.  While there, she also served as Fast Track Program coordinator, retention specialist, and Perkins IV grant representative.  Her higher education journey began with Bethel University as a recruiter and enrollment counselor. Dr. Anderson has also served as an adjunct business instructor for Jackson State Community College and West Tennessee Business College, both in Jackson, TN.

A member of several national higher education professional organizations, Anderson also serves on state and/or local committees focused on diversity, student learning and assessment as well as institutional effectiveness.  She holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, a master's of arts in education degree from Bethel University-McKenzie, TN and a doctorate degree in higher education leadership from Union University-Jackson, TN.
