International Friendship Gardens hosts 2015 Maple Sugar Camp

Maple-Sugar-Camp-at-Friendship-Gardens-was-Spectacular-01On Sunday March 15, International Friendship Gardens opened its gates for the first time in 2015; the occasion was Maple Sugar Time, the first "sweet taste" of Spring. Even the crocus and skunk cabbage were blooming, with daffodil greens beginning to show.

The sap run was 2-3 weeks late this year, due to the cold February we experienced. Many families came to enjoy the beauty of the Gardens, the warm weather and the 'sap running'. They tasted sap, trying to discern that 2% sweetness of the Red Maple. Three kettles over fire were operating, one getting close to syrup. Sand hill cranes flew overhead. What a wonderful way to spend our first delightful Spring Day!

The next public event at Friendship Gardens will be Earth Day - Arbor Day on Sunday, April 26th from Noon to 3pm and is a free event. Friendship Gardens is open to members all year round.
