Indiana Beverage has a strong desire to build connections with the communities it serves through various events and activities that can impact the people of Northwest Indiana. One of the organizations that it has collaborated with in this effort for several years is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana.
Key Account Manager at Indiana Beverage Leah Nickel has helped coordinate the support of the Boys & Girls Clubs over the past year. She considers the organization to be an incredible partner that possesses a similar vision to Indiana Beverage.
“We first coordinated with the Boys & Girls Clubs for a number of years,” Nickel said. “We split a donation with Molson Coors, which is our biggest supplying partner. Strack & Van Til is heavily involved as well. We got involved with this collaboration originally because one of the biggest things being promoted was serving the communities. It’s important for us to support those in need.”
One of the biggest collaboration events between Indiana Beverage and the Boys & Girls Clubs is the annual meal basket preparation for families. This helps more than a thousand people in the Region receive meals during the holiday season.
“We donate a lump sum of money to put about 500 bags together for families to deliver Christmas meals,” Nickel said. “It included green beans, corn, mac and cheese, pineapple, ham, pies, and more. When we went to the Boys & Girls Clubs headquarters in Gary, seven members from our Indiana Beverage team were able to help organize the bags for these families.”
There isn’t anything that drives Indiana Beverage to continue making an impact more than the people it serves. The organization strives to be an active presence in the community however it can, especially for major events and collaborative efforts.
“When you have a company that reaches so many people, it’s huge to support an organization so close to us,” Nickel said. “As a beer and beverage distributor, we touch grocery and liquor stores all throughout the area. The people that we see every single day and interact with are what we embrace as one of our biggest core values at Indiana Beverage.”
Indiana Beverage focuses on a few key pillars in its everyday work. These pillars are passion, respect, integrity, commitment, and excelling. Working with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs and Strack & Van Til to be an active presence in Northwest Indiana communities helps strengthen its mission statement.
“Working with the Boys & Girls Clubs really feeds into the passion and commitment pillars,” Nickel said. “There’s a mutual respect for treating everyone the way that we’d like to be treated, especially for our holiday collaboration making sure that it’s possible for families that can’t do some things on their own. Collaborating with Strack & Van Til is great as well because they serve the community just like us as a local grocer.”
With so much success in working together over the years, Indiana Beverage is hopeful that its collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs can continue for many years to come.
“Our hope is that we can continue doing events with the Boys & Girls Clubs for the long term,” Nickel said. “We’re always looking for new things to get involved with when it comes to serving the community. One thing that we started this year is a food drive in the South Bend area. We’re constantly looking for opportunities to serve our communities, and it’s extra special when you can do so with different organizations.”
