Indiana American Water and its parent company, American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, announced today it will offer fully remote, customer service job opportunities for residents of Gary and the northwest Indiana community.

Since purchasing the water system more than two decades ago, Indiana American Water continues to follow-up on its commitment to help revitalize the city and its water infrastructure, be an impactful corporate citizen and advocate for the community. The company has invested more than $400 million in the northwest Indiana water system, including $33 million to remove nearly 12,000 lead service lines. The company and its employees are also actively engaged in the communities we serve by partnering with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana, several local fire departments, and the Salvation Army.

Indiana American Water has been the water services provider for most of Lake and Porter counties since 1999 and has been serving customers in Indiana for more than 135 years.
American Water’s national customer service centers are located in Alton, Ill. and Pensacola, Fla. Gary-based customer service roles will help supplement the company’s call center operations, fielding calls across its regulated footprint.
