The fireworks are coming! The fireworks are coming! The 4th will soon be here and many communities around Northwest Indiana are taking part in the festivities! Read on to learn about the celebrations happening this Independence Day!

Wednesday, July 2

Fireworks at the Lakefront 6pm at Indiana Dunes State Park and Porter Beach  
Come join the Duneland Chamber and the Town of Porter for live entertainment, food vendors and a spectacular fireworks show. Food vendors will start at 6:00pm, The Solution will start by 7:00 p.m. and fireworks at 9:15pm. The Solution will also play after the fireworks so stay and relax on the beach after the show. Free bus transportation will be provided from Chesterton Middle School to Porter Beach from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.

Thursday, July 3

Merrillville/Ross Township Hidden Lake Park Independence Day Festival - 9:00am - 11:00pm
The Ross Township Hidden Lake Park's Independence Day Festival will take place at 6355 Broadway in Merrillville from 9:00am - 11:00. There will be bands, vendors, and a beer garden. There is an all-day festival with a special fireworks show at 9:00pm.

Cedar Lake SummerFest (through July 6) - 2pm - 1130pm Flag raising ceremony at 5pm, fireworks at 9:30pm 
The Cedar Lake Summerfest offer a great variety of activities for all ages. Over thousands people are in attendance each year. The Cedar Lake Summerfest is a fourth of July festival. We offer a great opportunity for the family to celebrate our country's independence. Festival hours vary daily. There is no admission fee but there is a $5.00 donation for parking. The festival is held on the shore of our 800 acre lake in the Lake of the Red Cedars Park, an 18 acre park.

Hebron Independence Day Parade Dusk
Hebron has several events planned for its Independence Day celebration. A fireworks display will be presented at dusk on Thursday, July 3, at Hebron High School.

Highland Twilight Parade (Part of 4th of July Festival) - 6:30pm
The Highland Twilight Parade will begin on Tuesday, July 3rd at 6:30pm, continuing down Kennedy to Highway, ending at Main Square Park. Before the parade there is a 1-mile race.

"We are partnering with the FOP in Michigan City to do a themed float in the 4th of July Parade in MC.. It will be a combination of Anytime and FOP advertising their Haunted House they do in October. So it is going to be Zombie Fitness themed!"

Taltree Arboretum and Gardens
Visit the Railway Garden and celebrate the steam engine trains’ impact on early 19th century America. Hang out in the Adventure Garden with our conservation animals and play in the hidden music garden. Special activities include kid crafts, Sprout Express rides and other Railway Garden activities. The Taltree Grill will be fired up offering grilled food, snack foods, sodas and bottle water. Free with general admission. Active military personnel and veterans receive free admission on Friday, July 4th with proper identification. Sprout Express rides are $1 per ride. Children 8 years old and younger only.

Griffith YMCA
The Griffith Chamber is hosting a corn roast at the famous Central Market on July 3rd from 3-8pm. Visit us for delicious corn, other unique vendors, beer/wine garden and live entertainment.

Calvary Church
Calvary Church will have free water, free Frisbees for children and a cooling station/bathrooms from 6pm until the fireworks begin at TJ for Valparaiso's fireworks celebration!

Schererville 4th of July Fireworks - 7pm 
Light up your holiday with our annual fireworks! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and the whole family. Fun begins at 7 pm with everyone’s favorite DJ, Mark McDaniel, and concessions will be available. Don’t forget to support the Schererville Parks Department and purchase your light up souvenirs from us! Additional parking will be available at the Illiana Speedway. Rain date is Sunday, July 6.

Merrillville Independence Day Parade - 7pm 
The Merrillville Town Parade will begin at Geisen Funeral Home, traveling North to Broadway & 67th Street, ending at the Merrillville High School entrace. This year's theme is "Our Children Today are Merrillville's Future Tomorrow."

Munster Independence Day Fireworks at Centennial Park - 9pm 
This year's Fireworks Show will begin at 9:00 pm. Live Music will be played from 7-11 pm featuring Nicole Jamrose. There will be concessions and a $5-cover beer garden.

Whiting Lakefront Park Fireworks & Pre-Party - 7pm - 10pm
The Summer Celebration will kick off with July 3rd Fireworks in the beautiful, newly renovated Whiting Lakefront Park. The event will begin with a pre-firework party, hosted by Horseshoe Casino®, and end with an extended firework show in honor of the City’s 125th Anniversary.

East Chicago 3rd of July Fireworks Celebration
East Chicago Festivities begin at 5pm at the East Chicago Marina with live music with fireworks at dusk!

Friday, July 4

Long Beach Parade - 8 a.m.
Oriole Trail Starting at Lakeshore Drive and heading down Oriole Trail, with residents decorating go karts and golf carts with a competition to follow.

Patriotic Program at Millennium Plaza-  8am
This annual event begins at 8 am with the posting of colors and a 21-gun salute. For more information, contact the Michigan City Summer Festival committee at: www.mcsummerfest.org

City of Gary 2014 Annual Independence Day Parade - 9am
The City of Gary invites your organization to be a part of our 2014 Independence Day parade, which will be held on Friday, July 4, beginning at 9:00 a.m. This year’s parade theme is “Rejuvenating Gary!”

Cedar Lake Summerfest Parade 10am  The town parade starts at Hanover Central High School (10120 W. 133rd Ave.) and ends at the Town Complex (7408 Constitution Ave.) This year's parade theme is "Celebrating The 4th of July."

68th Annual La Porte Jaycees 4th of July Parade 10am
The 2014 Parade will be held on Friday, July 4, 2014, and will travel down Lincolnway (Hwy 2). The Parade will begin at 10am and will last approximately 2-3 hours.

Hobart July 4th Parade - 10am
You can take part in the Hobart 4th of July Parade just by filling out the application and $25 per vehicle. Applications are available at the Chamber. If you are a Chamber Member and would like to walk/ride with the Hobart Chamber in the Parade, please contact the Chamber. You can also be a Parade Sponsor and for only $50, your logo will be on the Hobart Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade banner at the beginning of the Parade.

Whiting 4th of July Parade 10am 
You are invited to experience the magic as we celebrate 125 Years of Community. The City of Whiting, Mayor Joseph Stahura, and Radio Disney present the 2014 July 4th Honorary Parade Grand Marshals – Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse!

Hebron Independence Day Parade- 10am
The Independence Day parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 4. The parade will start at Hebron High School and progress north on Main Street to end at Country Square Plaza. Parade theme is “Patriotism is Alive and Well in Hebron.” This year's parade features 3 marching bands and the Orak Shrine.

Portage Independence Day Parade - 11am
This year’s celebration will consist of the traditional parade starting at 11:00 a.m. at Willowcreek Middle School and heading south down Willowcreek Road to Lute Road.

Crown Point Independence Day Parade - 2pm
This years 4th of July Parade theme honors the power of the pedal. Our American tradition of cycling is enjoyed by people of all ages in our community. We will celebrate unicycles, bicycles, tricycles and all things pedal powered. In addition to all of our parade entries this year, we are inviting kids to participate in our celebration with their own decorated bicycle.

Hammond 4th of July Celebration - 6pm
Join us for the annual July 4th Celebration at Wolf Lake. A naturalization ceremony kicks off the evening. The Bill Porter Orchestra will round off the evening with a fireworks show to conclude the 4th.

City of Hobart Fireworks at Dusk 
Enjoy food vendors and music from the Muddsharks while waiting for our fabulous fireworks display.

City of Portage Fireworks at Dusk
The Festival will take place at Trumble Field and the gates will open at 5:00 to the public.  There will be food and other vendors.  There will be live music from 6 to 9 p.m. and the fireworks display will occur at dusk.  Parade winners will be announced at 7:15pm! 

La Porte Jaycees Fireworks Celebration - 6pm 
The La Porte Jaycees Fireworks celebration will take place July 4th in Fox Park, over Clear Lake.  Gates will open at 7 pm with the show beginning at approximately 9:30 pm.  Cost is $5/car load at the gate $1/person for walk-ins.  MUST ENTER ON TRUESDELL AVE OFF OF PINE LAKE AVE.  ALL OTHER ROADS AROUND CLEAR LAKE WILL BE CLOSED.  This year’s pyrotechnics provided be Melrose.

Valpo 4th of July Fireworks - 6:30pm (fireworks begin at dusk)
With fireworks, fun, and family, this event is the perfect way to celebrate the Fourth of July at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

Lake Station Fireworks - at dusk 
This year's Lake Station Fireworks display will take place in Riverview Park at dusk.

 

Highland Fireworks - 9pm
Grab a blanket or your favorite lawn chair and join us for Highland’s  pectacular fireworks display at 9 p.m. at Homestead Park.

 

Crown Point Fireworks - 9:30pm
The Celebration Committee invites everyone to the Lake County Fairgrounds for the Fireworks Display which will begin at dusk on July 4th. Early arrival is recommended. Vehicles may enter through the Greenwood/Court Street gate or the Court Street/Buck Hill Road gate

Highland 4th of July Fireworks - 9pm at Homestead Park

Michigan City "Big Parade
The 56th annual parade takes place along Franklin Street from 10th Street to Ames Field.  Parade starts at 11 am.  For more information, contact the Michigan City Summer Festival committee at: www.mcsummerfest.org.
