IEDC Pipeline: Going the Distance

iedcWe just got back from a week-long series of economic development and jobs meetings in Germany with Governor Pence, IEDC staff and key German business leaders. It’s no coincidence that the IEDC also added three new companies from Germany, announcing new jobs and investment to Indiana last week. These results are testament to the governor’s ability to see emerging international opportunities and to get involved personally in bringing those new business deals home to Indiana.

It also speaks to our amazing team of economic development professionals and their ability as a group to deliver more than just the message that Indiana has created an environment where business can succeed, but the actual proof in numbers that we, like Germany, are an economic bright spot in our region. This is the common currency that gives us credibility in international business discussions.

Indiana’s commitment to maintaining a foreign office in Berlin is added evidence that we understand where Europe’s best opportunities are. As one of the top US states for manufacturing, Indiana's leaders sat down last week with representatives from Germany, one of Europe’s top nations for manufacturing, to discuss why Indiana and Germany have similar strengths and opportunities for new international business relationships.

Our efforts are ongoing, our focus on top international regions for business opportunity is laser sharp, and our governor’s personal commitment to win these opportunities is unparalleled.

It’s a fantastic example of going the distance to compete in a global economy, and yet another reason Indiana is a state that works for business.
