Ideas in Motion Connects with the Greater La Porte Ministerial Association

Chris-Mahlmann-LaPorte-Ministerial-2-20-14-1Chris Mahlmann from Ideas in Motion Media spoke at the Greater La Porte Ministerial Association about "Social Media and the Church". Pastors from eight different congregations were gathered to discuss the topic and talk about how to use Social Media to get the good news of the local churches communicated to the community. Thanks Chris for coming and sharing!

Ideas that were shared included: Seeing Social Media as a digital conversation, seeing it as a form of a coffee shop. Not having it always be about promotion but just sharing real life. What to post? Make it like a conversation. Create message that create engagement. Talk about other people and not just yourself. Be yourself. Use it for groups within the church. Realize there is a "cost" in your time. Make a regular time to do it. Get other people involved in the church using it. Use the "check in" feature when you are at church. Keep your posts positive. Use these principles from John Wesley in what to post: "Do good, Do no harm, Stay in love with God."
