Hundreds gather for Friendship Botanic Gardens Haunted Trails

Hundreds of families gathered at Friendship Botanic Gardens for its annual Haunted Trails and Family Fall Fest this past Saturday, Oct. 12.

Families spent the afternoon playing Halloween-themed games, participating in pumpkin decorating, face painting and trick-or-treating around the trails of Friendship Botanic Gardens.

Guests enjoyed macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, sloppy Joe’s and hot chocolate from the Up N Smoke food truck while sitting around a bonfire.

Children trick-or-treated at the 12 treat stations around the garden’s winding trails, with each station featuring different themed scares.

The next family event at Friendship Botanic Gardens is the Native American Celebration and Thanksgiving Day Turkey Walk on November 28 from 11-4 p.m. CDT. Children will have the chance to embark on a turkey scavenger hunt throughout the gardens and nature trails. After, enjoy the Native American Heritage Garden and get a first-hand look at Indigenous Peoples’ cooking techniques as a garden educator demonstrates the cooking of traditional pumpkin stew over an open flame. Admission for the event is free.

Friendship Botanic Gardens is located at 2055 East US Highway 12, Michigan City, Indiana. For more information contact us at 219-878-9885, info@friendshipgardens.org, or visit our Facebook event page.
