The team at Horizon Bank is ecstatic about this unveiling. Jennifer Shoup, district manager at Horizon Bank in La Porte, notes the benefits the new machines will provide for their customers.

“With the video banking machines, it helps extend our hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week except Sundays,” Shoup said. “They’re a great tool for our early bird customers that might need to swing by the bank on the way to work or when dropping their children off for school.”

The machines also supply unique features that focus on the best benefits for customers.

“There’s a live person that’s connected through video on the machine,” Shoup said. “Customers can speak directly to the person. If they aren’t comfortable with that, they are able to type in their requests using our private feature.”

Stephanie Kirk, call center manager at Horizon Bank in La Porte, said that the machines are able to take up to 40 bills or checks at a time. She acknowledged that their team spent a lot of time with the machines to limit the complexity before being introduced to the public.

“It’s nice because everything is laid out in the easiest way for the customer,” Kirk said. “We wanted to make it user-friendly. A lot of people don’t want to try new or complicated things, so this machine should be very convenient.”

Another person who agrees with this notion is Bert Cook, executive director of the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership (LEAP). Along with the convenience, Cook is appreciative of Horizon Bank continuing to send a positive message to residents by evaluating them from the lens of a customer.

“The biggest thing for me is that I appreciate the simplicity of it,” Cook said. “I think this is a huge step forward for the bank. The continued efforts in pushing customer service and providing for everyone in the community is so important.”

Tom Dermody, mayor of La Porte, was in attendance at the launch of the new video banking machines. He spoke about what impact this addition will have on the City of La Porte.

“Our partnership with Horizon Bank has been incredible,” Dermody said. “When it comes to new technology, they’re always out in front. They make sure to stay above and beyond. We’re just very appreciative of how great these new machines work.”
