Holladay Properties Hosts Open House for Promenade at Founder’s Square

Few companies contribute as much growth and development across the Region as Holladay Properties. From business parks to retail services, each property Holladay opens or operates brings opportunity. On Friday, they hosted an open house for their ambitious new community, the Promenade at Founders Square.

Located right in downtown Portage, the Promenade features luxurious apartment units with 18 different floor plans, a 24-hour clubhouse, a fitness center, and a dog park. The community is also right next to Founders Square’s Hannah’s Hope Playground and splash pad. A number of the nine buildings that make up the Promenade will be mixed-use and include residential as well as commercial/retail space. The scale and design of this development are both firsts for Northwest Indiana.

“This place is one of a kind, not just in Portage, but across Northwest Indiana,” said Kyle Yates, the Promenade’s Property Manager. “The location is perfect, we’ve got restaurants, and we’re next to the grocery store and the Little League field. It all brings a huge sense of community.”

The diverse amenities aside, the apartments themselves are just as impressive. All types of tenants are accommodated for, with pet-friendly units varying from studio to 3-bedroom. Each option offers an open concept floor plan, a patio or balcony, as well as Energy Star rated appliances including washer/dryers, refrigerators, stoves, and more. Holladay staff and leasing agents offered tours of the different units throughout the day.

“There’s a play-where-you-live trend moving throughout the States, so we wanted to touch on that,” said Jackie Green, Vice President of Property Management at Holladay Properties. “People can eat here and they can get their hair done thanks to the retail aspect, it’s kind of an urban location. It’s something that we have not seen in this area.”

Everyone who visited during the open house had the chance to apply for an apartment and enjoy some free sandwiches, chips, cookies and drinks. The first residents will move in on June 1st, and more and more of the features and amenities, including the club house and fitness center, will open up as the year progresses. Among the first retail tenants is the Portage Chamber of Commerce, which hopes the community will draw in new and exciting businesses.

“It’s wonderful to see. Portage doesn’t have a downtown, so this is a way to ‘create’ a downtown, and bring that atmosphere to the city,” said Nancy Simpson, Executive Director of the Portage Chamber of Commerce. “Plus, the units themselves are gorgeous. They suit families or single adults, it accommodates any kind of family.”
