Hohman Comes to Hammond for the 2015 Hammond Holiday Parade

Hammond-Holoday-Parade-2015-1The City of Hammond tradition continues with their annual Holiday Parade on Dec. 5 at 10:00 A.M., and this year “Hohman” is coming back home to Hammond with their “A Christmas Story” theme, including a visit from Theatre at the Center’s very own “Ralphie.”

“It’s always nice to do ‘A Christmas Story’ themed parade in Hammond,” said Hammond Parks and Recreation Director, Donna Muta. “Being the hometown for the movie makes it just that more special. And this year we teamed up with the Theatre at the Center in Munster to have Ralphie be the Grand Marshall of our parade.”

And this year, Hammond has decided to take that special feeling and roll with it.

Not only does the parade expect to have close to 100 vehicles, from businesses to bands, marching down (up, really) Indianapolis Boulevard celebrating all that is Hammond and the holidays, but this year the parade will take a new route starting at Gavit High School and run towards Purdue Calumet, ending at 169th st.

And weather depending, the City plans to have a special surprise waiting for the community at the end of this year’s parade route, pictures with Santa.

Hammond-Holoday-Parade-2015“Pictures with Santa gives the community a great opportunity to come together at the end of the route and be together for a while,” Muta added. “We never had that before, and we think it will be nice for the kids.”

Stay tuned for official word on pictures and times, but the plan is to have picture time from 11:45 to 1:50.

“And so everybody can have a chance with Santa, please bring your own camera,” Muta adds.

Don’t miss out on the tradition and join the City of Hammond for a celebration of Hammond and the wonderful community that makes up this city.
