Historic Revocation Grant opens for applications

INDIANAPOLIS (July 3, 2019) – Today, Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs announced that the Historic Renovation Grant Program, is open to for applications and will be accepted until all funding is awarded. The program is designed to preserve and rehabilitate historic properties to further incentivize downtown economic development across Indiana. 

“It is so important we are preserving Indiana’s rich, historical history,” Crouch said. “Through these grants, more communities will have the opportunity to upkeep their downtown buildings.”

During the 2019 legislative session the Indiana General Assembly passed three enhancements to the program which include:

  • Non-profit organizations that own a historic property are eligible to apply;
  • The minimum grant amount that can be requested has been lowered to $5,000; and
  • The applicant match has been lowered to 50 percent of the total eligible amount of the project.

“We are excited that the Historic Renovation Grant Program will now be available to more eligible applicants,” said Jodi Golden, Executive Director of OCRA. “Any eligible historic commercial structure in Indiana is encouraged to apply.”

Applicants with an eligible historic commercial structure have the opportunity to apply for project funding between $5,000 and $100,000 at a maximum request of 50 percent of the total eligible project cost. Eligible applicants include non-profits, individuals, partnerships, firms, associations, joint ventures, limited liability companies, corporation or non-profit affordable housing organization.
