Highland Resident Elected Purdue Calumet Student Government President

purdue-cal-griffinCandice Ford of Highland has been elected Student Government Association President at Purdue University Calumet for the 2015-16 academic year.

Ford has served SGA during 2014-15 as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Sophia Sweet of Walkerville, Mich. has been elected Vice President. She has served during 2014-15 as a Senior Senator for Residential Students and Speaker Protempore.

The Purdue Calumet Student Government Association includes junior and senior representatives on the SGA Senate. Representing the Honors College are Erick Tiemens of Lowell, Senior elect, and Donald Corlett of Hilliard, Ohio, Junior elect.

Elected Senior and Junior Senators of the College of Business are Aaron Achcraft of Cedar Lake and Britany Vernon of Hammond, respectively.

Others elected are: Ali Alromiah of Hammond, Senior Senator, College of Technology; De’Joie Simmons of Country Club Hills, Ill., Senator representing Commuter Students; Sarah Valladares of Crown Point, Senior Senator, College of Nursing; Araceli Aguilera of Hammond, Senator, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; and Andrew Uzubell of Highland, Senator, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science.

All elected officers will assume their responsibilities next fall.
