Heroes to be Celebrated at Indiana Welcome Center

Leg-Lamp-A-Christmas-StoryThe South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority will be hosting a special event for all fire, police, EMS, military and Hoosier Helpers to say thank you for their service and dedication to our community and our country.

Holiday for Heroes, a special evening of appreciation for our region’s heroes, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is open to all fire, police, EMS, military and Hoosier Helpers as well as their families.

Throughout the evening, the individuals that keep our communities safe will be able to enjoy a private viewing of the “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit, which is presented in agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, light refreshments and cookies as well as participate in different activities.

Attendees may take a free photo with Santa. There will be a station available to write a letter or to color a picture to send to military troops overseas. Attendees will also be able to decorate kids’ Christmas crafts for $1 or cookies for $2.

To participate in the Holiday for Heroes event, please bring your police, fire, EMS, military or Hoosier Helper ID to the Indiana Welcome Center. The Indiana Welcome Center is located at the intersection of I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue South in Hammond.
