Some of the GreatNews.Life (GNL) team members had the chance to explore the features the South Bend location has to offer, including the Cedar Spa and C Bar which featured some live entertainment. It was a fun-filled afternoon, and a couple of team members shared their thoughts on each of the facilities and what truly made the experience one for the books. Read on to see what they had to say!
Cedar Spa
The Cedar Spa is an all-inclusive relaxing adventure equipped with many elements meant to leave you feeling relaxed and renewed. A water journey experience that consists of spa essentials including a pool, hot stone lounges, a steam room, and a sauna are all available when it’s time to unwind after a stressful day. The spa also has some handy tools at your disposal and ready to use, such as curling irons, shaving kits, and hairbrushes.
“It was such a relaxing experience!” said GNL Junior Full-Stack Web Developer Monika Krcoski. “The staff were very nice and the spa is so clean, which helped add to such an amazing experience.”
Of course, no spa is complete without massages. To round off the Cedar Spa experience, massage rooms are available to leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed like never before.
“The massage rooms are all so beautiful and tranquil,” said Krcoski.
“The massage room provided such a satisfying experience. You could tell how much thought was put into the rooms by the little details such as the scent of cedar throughout. The spa, the showers, and hair products could also help you get ready for a night out after your visit!!”
Edgewater Café
To satisfy those taste buds, stop by the Edgewater Café for a delicious meal any time of day. The menu has a variety of mouthwatering platters for everyone to enjoy no matter their preference.
Krcoski was able to taste a few items off the lunch menu during her trip, all of which she highly recommends. The meal began with soft garlic bread, fried calamari “Bari style,” fried ravioli, and arancini for appetizers.
“The calamari was very good and crispy – It was a favorite among the table. The fried ravioli was classic yet delicious,” Krcoski said. “The salsa arrabbiata added a bit of spice and was a twist to the original classic – it was very, very good. The arancini was so delectable; it was my first time trying it, and I would go again for that alone!”
Following the appetizers came the main course, which was a favorite for Krcoski.
“I got the herb-basted delmonico with mashed potatoes, and it was so tasty,” Krcoski said. “It was a ribeye steak with herb butter and it was top notch; the whole steak was just infused with flavor and incredible.”
GNL Partnership and Office Coordinator Kami Tupiak also had a bite of the steak and considered it one of the best meals she’s ever had.
“The steak was absolutely delicious. It was tender and cooked exactly the way I asked for it,” Tupiak said. “It was absolutely great and something I definitely can’t wait to have again.”
Krcoski additionally brought her boyfriend, Alex Drakulich, for the day. He was also very impressed with his lunch. As a big fan of chicken parmesan, he decided to give the giant version of the meal a go and was very glad he did! He admitted this meal made his top favorites list and is looking forward to the next trip back so he can enjoy his favorite meal once again.
A variety of desserts are also available to round off the meal for those with a sweet tooth.
“We got a chocolate dome for dessert which was so delicious. It was like a chocolate mousse on top with some chocolate cake on the bottom and some fruit on the side. The chocolate paired with the fruit was just incredible,” Krcoski said. “We also had the cheesecake, which was honestly just perfect and everything you could want out of a cheesecake.”
What really completed the experience, though, was the service. With a staff who always works with the customer in mind, they’ll always go to great lengths to make sure guests not only leave with their stomachs full, but also with smiles on their faces.
“They really went above and beyond for our service,” Krcoski said. “For example, someone ordered a drink with basil in it and they were out, but they had it in another restaurant in the casino and sent someone to get it. It was so awesome!”
C Bar
Four Wind’s C Bar comes equipped with drinks and flavors in all shapes and sizes, ranging from well-loved classics to newer mixes alike.
Krcoski was able to indulge in both while visiting the venue. She first decided to try the C Bar’s Cosmopolitan, a type of drink she has always enjoyed. Her standards were high taking the first sip, and she was blown away by just how much the cocktail exceeded her expectations. She then decided to take a chance on something new and now considers it one of her go-to options thanks to Four Winds.
“I had a cosmo, and it was so good. The color was perfect and the taste was phenomenal; it was everything a cosmo should be,” Krcoski said. “I also had an Italian Wedding which was a drink I have never heard of before, but it ended up being one of my favorite drinks that I have ever tried. I was not sure what I was expecting when ordering this, but it was also exactly what I was expecting at the same time. It was a light drink that tasted like a wedding cake and was so delicious!”
Krcoski wasn’t the only one who left beyond impressed. Drakulich also tried a new twist on a well-loved favorite and knew he would definitely come back to order it again.
“My boyfriend had an old fashioned and he said that it perfectly fit the mood of the place and it was perfectly made,” Krcoski said. “He also had a blueberry lemon drop, and he said that he really enjoyed it. He has never had a blueberry lemon drop, but he said he would order it again.”
Tupiak was additionally a fan of the drink she had and was particularly a fan of how all the flavors fused together.
“My drink was also delicious - I had a Pomegranate Spritzer,” Tupiak said. “It was refreshing and bubbly with just the right amount of pomegranate juice that made it extra fruity. It was one of the best I've ever had and something I’d recommend everyone to try.”
Live entertainment
The day was made complete jamming out to some live entertainment. When it comes to entertainment options, Four Winds has plenty! Whether you’re looking for a relaxing activity or one that will have you dance the night away, Four Winds has it all, and the GNL staff was able to experience it all firsthand.
“I think that this place is such a perfect getaway,” Krcoski said. “They have lots of choices for entertainment options such as gambling, tons of live shows and a ton of restaurants. They also have live music and shows - there is something in there for everyone. They even had live shows at the bars, which were so much fun to sit in and listen to.”
In fact, Tupiak’s favorite part about the fun day out was the music, and thought it was a great way to fully capture the essence of the Four Winds experience.
“The music was a great way to end a day out. It was a relaxing yet exciting experience,” Tupiak said.
However, the live performances are merely scratching the surface of all the entertainment the venue has to offer.
“During our visit, we went to the Edgewater Café, and they have a rooftop pool and bar, making it a perfect place to lounge in the summer,” Krcoski said. “They also have live DJs there and entertainment which provides a Vegas-like atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to go for a getaway or maybe even host a get-together with your friends.”
At the end of the day, the GNL team was beyond impressed with their afternoon at Four Winds South Bend, and highly recommend everyone check it out to see what all the hype and excitement is truly all about.
“Whichever Four Winds location you choose, there is always something to do,” Krcoski said. “I enjoy going on cruises for my vacations, and this place reminded me of a cruise ship. There is always somewhere we could go out and eat. There is always something to do, and you will never be bored!”
