Hammond Hosts Community Celebration to Select 2019 NFL Draft Pick Live on April 27

The City of Hammond will host a community celebration and live 2019 NFL Draft telecast on Saturday, April 27, as part of the National Football League’s centennial season and celebration of the NFL’s “Original Towns” – the communities that were home to the NFL’s inaugural season. The media and public are invited to attend the celebration and watch a live telecast of Mayor Thomas McDermott, Jr. announcing the Los Angeles Chargers Round 6 Draft pick live on NFL Network. The pick will take place at the Hammond Sportsplex located at 6630 Indianapolis Boulevard. There will be food, a kids combine, historical information about the Hammond Pros and other fun for everyone at the Sportsplex this Saturday from 1 – 5 p.m. This is a free event and open to the public. The combine will be run by Empowering Athletes for Life and will include testing for 6th – 12th graders.

The celebration is part of ‘NFL100,’ a year-long commemoration of the NFL’s centennial season bringing generations of football fans, players, communities, and all 32 clubs together for a unique line-up of programming and activities. More information about the Original Towns is available here.
