Habitat ReStore Seeks to Connect with Volunteers

Habitat-RestoreSince opening in July of 2013, the La Porte County Habitat for Humanity ReStore has been offering new and gently used building materials, home goods, furnishings, hardware and more to a growing customer base from northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan.

As awareness of the ReStore grows, donations as well as traffic to the store have increased exponentially. To meet this demand, La Porte County Habitat is seeking volunteers to work in a variety of roles in support of the ReStore.

Opportunities and needs exist in many areas, depending upon the interest level of the volunteers. These include but are not limited to:

  • Customer service and sales
  • Stocking
  • Inventory control
  • Assisting with pick up of larger donated items.

Volunteer hours are flexible and adult and young adult volunteers of all ages are welcome. Of particular need at present are in-store volunteers during ReStore hours on Thursdays through Saturdays and individuals to assist with pickups on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

To donate the gift of time to the ReStore, please contact Kevin or Bob at (219) 814-4985 during normal business hours Monday through Saturday.

The LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is located at the corner of 10th and Huron in Michigan City in the Alpha Storage Complex. Retail store hours are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.
