Guest Speaker Makes for a “Sunny” Day at MCHS

mchs-guest-speaker-sunny-1Motivational speaker/model/actor Sunny Akomu Akhigbe visited Michigan City High School on Monday, November 23, speaking to students in teacher Kelly Martin-Fargo's Speech and Advanced Theatre classes. Akhigbe's appearance was the culmination of the students' unit on goal setting and resume writing.

He spoke about the extreme poverty and other challenges he faced growing up in Nigeria, and his path to success later in life. He also encouraged students to put education first and surround themselves with positives. "If you are a human being and you choose to be great, you will," he said. "A positive attitude is a gift you give yourself, because it will attract good and supportive people to you."

Akhigbe donated several copies of his book, A Boy and His Dream (which he wrote under the pen name Ambrose Okosun) to the MCHS library, and he autographed t-shirts and photos for students following the presentations.
