Growth, Charity, and More – A Look Back at 2018 and a Peek into 2019 with Patrick’s Grille

Michigan City residents are quite familiar with Patrick’s Grille, thanks to their consistency in providing high quality fine dining with a casual, but upscale atmosphere. More than that, they constantly strive to be a positive force in the community that supports them, be it through “giveback events” that raise funds for local nonprofits, or participating in community programs that support organizations around Michigan City and Northwest Indiana.

One of the simplest, most effective ways they give back is through their Giveback Nights, where a chunk of the entire day’s proceeds goes to the organization. Usually the amount is 10%, and this year they hosted the event for organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Michigan City and Save the Dunes.

“It’s very important for us to be involved in the community,” said Julie Krause, General Manager at Patrick’s. “We love doing those Giveback Nights because they not only directly raise funds, they bring people in for awareness and the extra sales help us give back. We fill up the restaurant, which we definitely like but in the end what’s most important is that those organizations benefit.”

They also take part in numerous fundraising events around the community such as Paws to Protect, which supported the Michigan City Police Department’s K-9 unit. Another of their favorite organizations is the Michigan City Zoo, which is among the most unique in attractions and education opportunities in the Region.

“We just really love to be a part of anything involving the zoo,” Krause said. “It’s such a fun thing to raise money for, and the zoo staff is so wonderful to work with.”

As an independent, locally owned business, the team at Patrick’s understand that without their community’s support, nothing is possible. Over the past year they have expanded their catering options, continued their excellent history of food and service, and even opened a new restaurant – Sunset Grille.

“I’d just like to thank the community for supporting us as much as we hope to support them,” said Julie Krause, General Manger at Patrick’s. “It’s very important both ways, when people are enjoying our service we can stay in business and support the community. Michigan City is a growing place and we’re just excited to be a part of it.”

As for what’s to come in 2019? Krause stressed that regulars should expect the quality service they’ve always enjoyed, but should keep a lookout for expanded catering options, exciting events, and of course – excellent food.
