Growing Stronger Starts April 22nd at the Michigan City Senior Center

Purdue-ExtensionGrowing Stronger is coming to the Michigan City Senior Center. This 8-week fitness program is fun, easy and effective. There will be $10 fee collected. Join us for fellowship, healthy snacks, and the opportunity to practice the exercises with a trained leader. The required orientation is on March 19th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., then the class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 a.m., from April 22nd to June 12th. The class is approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Participants must be 18 years old to attend.

This program is based on years of research on how strength training and proper nutrition can improve health. The benefits may include increased strength and flexibility, improved balance and reduced falls, improved weight and glucose control and improved sleep and mood! Each week we will do a series of strength training exercises using just 1 – 5 pound weights, which are provided for your use in the class.
