Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation & Economic Development Corporation Michigan City to Host 2015 Made in La Porte County

LaPorteThe Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation (GLEDC) and the Economic Development Corporation Michigan City (EDCMC) will once again be hosting “Made in La Porte County”. The popular event will be held on Thursday September 24th from 9:00AM to 3:00PM at the Space Center Facility, formerly the Whirlpool Complex, located at 1900 Whirlpool Drive in La Porte.

This special event will allow local firms to showcase their products that are produced, assembled and/or distributed from right here in La Porte County. It will provide an opportunity for local citizens and visitors to view the interesting array of products first hand, all in one location. The event will also provide an opportunity for the local firms to interface with one another on a “business to business” basis. While this is not a career or job fair, another great feature of the event will be an opportunity for high school and college students throughout the County to get acquainted with the products and associated processes, training, education and potential employment opportunities as they prepare for their futures. This type of exposure can ultimately help build your future workforce. There is no cost to participate!

Over 40 companies participated in the 2013 Made in La Porte County event. We are planning to showcase all types of products, big and small. We want to increase that number this year and hope that your company will participate. The Space Center Facility has 70’ clearance and plenty of space.

Bob Schaefer of Community Dynamics will once again coordinate the event. Please let him know if your company is interested in participating by completing and forwarding the attached form to him at:, or contacting him at the GLEDC office, 219-324-8584. Bob will follow up with you with more details.

This a great community project and we hope that you will be able to participate. Thanks for your support and help in making Michigan City, La Porte and La Porte County a great place to live, work, play and conduct business.
