Good Tree Works: Urban Tree Care Workshop for Cities and Towns

Purdue-ExtensionTrees are a major capital asset in our communities and it is critical to understand the maintenance necessary to keep them safe, healthy & sustainable. This workshop provides training and demonstrations for basic tree maintenance by Urban Forestry Specialist, Lindsey Purcell.

Topics included: Proper Pruning Applications; Risk Tree Assessment and Tree Planting and Care.

Upon completion attendees will be able to: Make a proper pruning cut, understand when and why to prune a tree, set appropriate pruning goals, identify trees or tree parts that may pose a risk to human safety.

The training dates and locations are:

April 8, 2013 – Muncie, IN

April 15, 2013 – Rensselaer, IN

April 22, 2013 – Jasper, IN

Training runs from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. The cost is $20 per attendee. Please register early. Registrations are due one week prior to workshop date.

If you have untrained staff doing tree work in your community, you should consider this training program. Improperly pruned trees are less tolerant of urban stresses and poor practice may lead to risk trees.
