The Footlight Players of Michigan City has done it again. The group began an open-mic night on the fourth Friday of the month in August. This fun evening became more popular each time it was done. This past Friday, on October 27th, the group hosted a “Mocky Horror Show” that drew a sell-out crowd. Perhaps that should read a full house since there is no charge to be an audience member. The only charge is a $2.00 performer’s fee. The audience was peppered with a gorilla, a unicorn, a gum ball machine, Captain Morgan, and an array of others. On stage the audience was entertained by vocalists, Amanda Sixbury, Candace Archer, Kathy Chase, John Hutchinson, a young band featuring Paloma Calvin and Ione Wermuth and a multitalented young man, Jacob Griffin along with others.
The evening ended when the hosting committee of Joe and Emma Blanchard, Anthony G. Holt, Kristina Moore and Alayna Lauritsen in full costume and make-up as Dr. Frankenfurter, Brad, Janet, Magenta, Riff-Raff and Columbia from “Rocky Horror” had members of the audience on their feet doing the ‘Time Warp.” The group provided treats and beverages for a donation. Mark your calendars for their Christmas installment on December 22nd.
