The Rev. Anthony Janik, director of spiritual care services at Franciscan Health Crown Point, prays over Kimber the canine during a 15th-annual Blessing of Children, the Elderly and Pets on Oct. 4, the Feast Day of St. Francis.
Kimber is being held by owner Kathy Witovet, a representative of clinical services at Franciscan Communities, an assisted living facility next to the hospital. Kimber was one of seven dogs blessed, along with preschool children from Holy Family Child Care, also located near the hospital, and a number of senior citizens.
