Franciscan-Alliance-Nurse-Practitioners-SNAP-to-it-Benefit-Area-NeedyDuring the last 12 years, members of the Society of Nurses in Advanced Practice (SNAP) have supported the free clinics of Franciscan Alliance with gifts donations more than $12,000. The latest was a $1,000 gift. The group, whose members hail from Northwest Indiana and Illinois, supports the Catherine McAuley Clinic in Hammond and the St. Clare Health Clinic in Crown Point, not only because they treat the uninsured of Lake County, but because the clinics are managed by nurse practitioners.

Founded in 1994, SNAP has more than 125 members who raise funds for clinics and other health care institutions that serve those most in need, while recognizing the role of nurses in advanced practice. “These donations are a testament to the caring spirit so deeply present in this organization. Their call to serve all people, while working to improve patient outcomes through advanced practice, is an amazing gift to this community,” said Tony Englert, executive director of the Franciscan Alliance Foundation.
