First Friday Art Walk in April in Downtown Michigan City Brings Interactive Art, Fish Fry and Entertainment

Michigan-City-Mainstreet-AssociationThe Michigan City Mainstreet Association presents the First Friday Art Walk in the Uptown Arts District on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm. Following this First Friday Art Walk is the first annual, high-end cultural event known as the International Night of Flavor.

The First Friday of April features interaction in the arts. The Lubeznik Center will be the Poetry Slam, in which local poets can register to compete by contacting Janet Bloch at jbloch@lubeznikcenter.org. Women’s clothing and accessory shop Darling, at 418 Franklin, will be hosting an interactive art piece in which attendees may bring old pieces of jewelry to add to the full piece. 4 Shadow Design, 618 Franklin, will also be opening for its first First Friday Art Walk with glass art of Iveta Bencova of Slovakia.

The First Friday Art Walk is never short of entertainment and lasts all Friday evening long. First, attendees can grab some homemade fish at the St. Paul’s Fish Fry and also pop in to Trinity Chruch to view the Children’s Choir. Later on in the evening, presented by Virtuous Events & Sahara Restaurant in the Uptown Center for the Performing Arts, attendees can experience a cross-cultural celebration of food, music, dance, and community.

Enjoy a professionally programmed night of events with Journeyman Distillery, Sahara Restaurant, Wine Sommelier Simon Barrios and two International Club DJ’s. Tickets range from a $50 VIP PASS which includes: Wine & Spirits Tasting, Hors D’oeuvres by Sahara Restaurant, Belly & Fire Dancer Performance, 7:00-8:00PM Salsa Lesson with Professional Instructor Brooke Bocek.
