Sand and Suds at Fire and Water’s First BrewsFest

Sand and Suds at Fire and Water’s First BrewsFest

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Michigan City, people came from across the region to Fire and Water beach bar for their first ever BrewsFest.

The BrewsFest featured many local breweries such as Burn Em, Evil Czech, Sun King, One Trick Pony, New Holland and Devil’s Trumpet. There was also live music performed by the Gerry Hundt Trio.

“Today was about bringing out the best local breweries and good music for the people to enjoy,” said Mohamed Mroueh, owner of Fire and Water. “We’ve been here for a year with this being our first full season, and the BrewsFest was a great way for us to end this year's season”.

“We also wanted to use this event to let people discover Fire and Water,” he continued. ”We are one of the only beach bars in the area so it was awesome to see the big turnout. Come spring, we plan on having many more events and our customers will see a lot of expansion within Fire and Water”.

Attendees of the BrewsFest were seen lounging in couches on the rooftop watching beachgoers fly kites. While downstairs patrons danced to to some bluesy tunes.

Bill Simon of Valparaiso heard about the event and thought it would be a great way to sample good beer and hear live music.

“I love the setting. The rooftop area is pretty cool and you can’t beat the view from up there,” he said. “I really enjoyed the Mediterranean food, and I hope they plan more events like this in their next season”.

For Mike Wahl and Jim Kovalcik, the BrewsFest was just another excuse to come back to Fire and Water.

“We’ve been coming here a lot since they opened this summer, and they always seem to have great entertainment so the BrewsFest today has definitely been a excellent time,” said Jim.

“The weather has been great, and to be able to sit down with a local beer and support the brewery’s business and Fire and Water’s business all while taking in the beautiful view of the lake is superb,” said Mike.

Eve Wierzbicki, the marketing director for Fire and Water, is excited for the future that lays ahead for Fire and Water.

“We wanted the best of the best for the BrewsFest today and I believe we delivered on that,” she said. “I think Fire and Water is a unique and stylish venue for great events like this and I’m confident that there will be many more next season and for years to come”.
