Fall into Your Creative Side by Taking a Class at Lubeznik Center for the Arts in the 2015 Season

rot3Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) offers a range of art classes that cover a variety of topics. Participants will have the opportunity to learn a new skill or expand their knowledge of an existing one. This season LCA is excited to offer three new classes.

Block Printing, is a 3-hour one-day workshop that will take place on Thursday, September 17. Students will view the work of other printmaking artists, discuss what makes a good print, and learn the tools and techniques for linoleum cut printmaking. The class will also cover the basics of composition, planning a print, transferring the design to a block, and how to cut safely.

International Art Cinema will intrigue any film lover. Students will learn how Godard changed the language of film forever with his French New Wave classic, Breathless. Journey through post-Stalin Communist Czechoslovakia the lens of feminist film director Vera Chytilova. Each class will include a brief background of the film, screening, and discussion afterwards.

Gelli Printing taught by local artist, Laurel Izard. Students will learn how to use Gelli plates (a versatile gel printing plate) to create original mono plate images using various techniques to layer brilliant colors and patterns. They will also experiment with stencils, stamps and found objects to create interesting effects.

Additional class offerings include writing, visual arts, and art classes for youth.
