Fall Harvest Days At Riverside Market on October 6 and 7th

Riverside-Market-2011On Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7th, Riverside Market will have their Annual Fall Harvest Festival featuring free apple cider to every visitor from 10am – 3pm.

The Fall Harvest Festival will have Fall decorations, artisan breads, baked goods, gift ideas, Fall produce, antiques, and live entertainment on both days. The festival’s entertainment features the WIMS live remote on Saturday from 10am - Noon, and local Grammy Contender Keenan Baxter, on keyboards from Valparaiso on Sunday from Noon -2pm. Keenan plays from all kinds of genres – from New Age to rock, and plays with the sound of a full band. Keenan will also have his most popular cds for sell, which include: Smooth Jazz, Meditation, and Celtic. The market is located at 234 E. 2nd St., in Michigan City. (or Hwy 12 & Hwy 35) with their entrance located just south of Galveston Steakhouse.

Riverside market is open from Memorial weekend to October 7th. Riverside boasts of a wide variety of vendors from local artisans bringing a mix of vendors, from fruits and vegetables to crafters, flowers, coffees, herbs, homemade jam and breads and food vendors, jewelry, purses, and much more. Local organic meats, organic eggs, and homemade sausage are just some of the specialty food items. The market expanded this year to four days: Thursday - Saturday: 10am-3pm thru Labor Day only. Jen cooks up some amazing cookies, biscotti, and granola. It’s the perfect complement to Gems Coffee! Green Trail Flowers has annual flowers and plants to beautify your yard. There are fresh cut flower arrangements to give as a gift or a treat for you. Also, there are fresh herbs. Juice Plus is a new seasonal vendor offering fruit and vegetable supplements, helping you stay healthy and feel great! ! Passion for Pearls is also a new addition to the Market featuring flown in pearl jewelry and accessories. There are many great gift items to choose from. Donna Sukla, a local artist, displays a wide variety of paintings. Donna does painting demonstrations at Riverside on Saturday and Sunday every week. Come in and see her amazing talent. Southwestern Michigan Buttery is another new addition to Riverside! Paula and her husband Joe make delicious fruit butters. Apple, Peach, Plum, and Rhubarb Butter! Delicious! And, Rivendell Gifts has large selections of beautiful jewelry, decorative angels, and handmade soup.

There are lots of food and edible products at Riverside. Mulson Farms is from Benton Harbor, Michigan. Mulson Farms is a farmer who brings in season fresh produce and fruits. Burek Farms is a local farm in LaPorte, and provides fresh produce (in season) eggs, plants, flowers, hanging baskets. They have the Best Sweet Corn in the County — all grown without pesticides. Grandpa’s Farm has locally raised organic beef, chicken, pork, lamb. Chef Didier Durand is a French chef who is very popular in the area provides a large selection of artisan breads, soups, cheese and cheese spreads, dinner entrees, pastries & croissants, vinaigrettes, quiche, caviar and more. It’s guaranteed once you try any item you will keep coming back for more. Sahara Restaurant, another local merchant, provides his homemade humus, pitas, bobaganouch, spinach pie and baklava. His items are very popular among the local community — very fresh and ready to eat. Nina’s Pierogi offers homemade polish delight! Nina’s offers a variety of pierogi flavors: cheese, potato, kraut, and fruit. Gems Coffee is offering fresh brewed coffee and tea. Mad Dog Cookie Company features handmade dog treats with flavors that change weekly as well as handmade doggie attire. A must see for doggie lovers.

For Those Who Just Want To SHOP. Besides having items that are considered foods Riverside Market has other products for the shoppers out there. Beach Bum Jewels is a local artist named Linda Mickevicius that features authentic handmade beach glass jewelry with fine sterling silver. Her jewelry is artist designed and handcrafted including beautiful earrings, necklaces, bracelets & more. You’ll find “fun items” at Windsongs who has kites, flags, windsocks, whirligigs and various wind-related items. Jeff’s Books, has new, used, scarce and collectible books. Decades Antiques has a large collection of antiques from early 1900’s to vintage 1950’s, a must see at the Market, with items changing weekly. Artist Neil Kienitz is a local South Shore artist that displays and sells his latest south shore poster at the Market. He’s available for signings at various Saturdays throughout the Market season.
