F.O.P State Bowling Tournament Coming to South Shore

bowlingThe Fraternal Order of the Police’s Lake County Chris Anton Lodge #125 will host the Indiana State F.O.P for their 50th Annual Indiana State F.O.P Bowling Tournament at Stardust Bowl II in Merrillville on Dec. 7 and Dec 8.

According to Tournament Chairman Tony Ramirez, the tournament will bring in 10 to 12 teams to compete in the event. The tournament includes singles and doubles play in addition to team events.

Ramirez explained that the annual bowling tournament provides members with the opportunity to get together and share camaraderie, friendship and fellowship.

A lot of lodges can meet new members and see old friends during the tournament,” said Ramirez.

The annual tournament has previously been held in Indianapolis, South Bend, Evansville and other cities and towns throughout the state. The F.O.P selected the South Shore as host location for the 50th annual event because of the assistance received from the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority.

The South Shore CVA goes a step beyond, helping us map routes to and from the tournament site, as well as assisting us with restaurants and hotels so we can help local businesses,” said Ramirez. “The South Shore CVA is very influential in setting up things for families from throughout the state.

The public is welcome to watch as bowlers take to the lanes. Singles and doubles events will be played on Saturday, Dec. 7 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Team play will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. There is no charge for spectators.
