Enbridge Launches New Partnership with Purdue University Northwest

Purdue-Northwest-colorPurdue University Northwest and Enbridge recently came together to form a partnership to support current and future PNW students interested in pursuing careers in STEM disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Through this partnership, Enbridge has become the named sponsor of the Purdue Northwest Enbridge Summer Engineering Camps, which support STEM education among middle and high school students in Northwest Indiana. Enbridge also will provide scholarships to qualifying PNW students.

“We are thrilled to support Purdue Northwest, its students and the engineering camp,” said John Gauderman, director, Enbridge Chicago Region. “Through this partnership students will have the opportunity to explore and pursue their academic passions. Their success will help ensure a positive future for our community, our state and our nation. It is our honor to be a part of this.”

PNW Chancellor Thomas L. Keon lauded the partnership, "We are extremely appreciative of the demonstrated commitment Enbridge has made to partner with Purdue Northwest to advance student success and STEM education. Through its support, Enbridge shares our vision of advancing student success and building academic interest in ways that benefit Northwest Indiana."

Enbridge Summer Engineering Camps The 2017 Purdue Northwest Enbridge Summer Engineering Camps will welcome middle and high school students for lab and classroom experiences in civil, mechanical, electrical and computer engineering – all areas in which degree programs are offered at PNW.

“The enrichment program exposes participants to fundamental concepts of engineering and demonstrates to students that there are excellent job opportunities in engineering where graduates can earn a good living doing work they enjoy with interesting people,” said George Nnanna, head of the PNW Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering and the university’s Water Institute.

“The funding from Enbridge will enable us to recruit talented students to gain experiential learning about engineering. As high school students begin thinking about college decisions, hands-on experience can be extremely valuable. The Summer Engineering Camps provide this personal experience with an interactive learning curriculum structured to connect science, math and their water-related applications. Enbridge has demonstrated its commitment to young people who want to learn more about engineering."
