Downtown Michigan City to Turn into Local Art Showcase During First Friday

Uptown-Arts-DistrictThe Michigan City Mainstreet Association is pleased to present the First Friday Artwalk in the Uptown Arts District on November 2, 2012 from 5pm to 8pm. The Uptown Arts District is comprised of fine art galleries, businesses, retail and restaurants located in the area from 11th Street to the lake and Spring Street to Wabash Street in Michigan City, IN.

The First Friday Artwalk has become a must-attend event for not only fine and local art fans, but music lovers, foodies and shoppers. Many businesses within the area host an array of music, art, refreshments and other entertainment. Even the retailers will be hosting something new, including Darling, 418 Franklin, hosting the AK Smith Welding Class’s sculptures and musicians Drew and Brian of This Last Dance.

Trinity Church of Michigan City will host an exhibit on the Barker family, Urban Soles will have fine art and modern jewelry. New to the district, The Pod Drop, an Apple product service store, will feature local photographer Erin Watson. Elle Salon will feature a live violinist, and the St. Stanislaus Resale Shop will host music by Emmanuelle Lo.
