Downtown Michigan City Becomes Local Art Showcase During First Friday

Uptown-Arts-DistrictThe Michigan City Mainstreet Association is pleased to present the First Friday Artwalk in the Uptown Arts District on September 7, 2012 from 5pm to 8pm. The Uptown Arts District is comprised of fine art galleries, businesses, retail and restaurants located in the area from 11th Street to the lake and Spring Street to Wabash Street in Michigan City, IN.

The First Friday Artwalk has become a must-attend event for not only fine and local art fans, but music lovers, foodies and shoppers. This month, art aficionados can attend opening receptions at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Walnut Ink Gallery, Prince Gallery, Lakeside Gallery West, Blink Contemporary Art Gallery as well as browse artwork at local businesses within the district and the new Warren Outdoor Project.

Music lovers will enjoy Bryan Lubeck performing music from his new CD Tuscan Sky at Joy of Flowers, Loose Strings performing at the First United Methodist Church, Acoustic Mélange Music by Brian Daley and Mike Kmiecik at Elle Salon and of course live music at Ryan’s Irish Pub. Foodies and shoppers will be delighted by handmade popsicle selection at Cabo’s Ice Cream Shop, the selection at local retailers, and fine dining at the Black Eyed P and Maxine’s.
