Downtown La Porte Happenings for June!

lp-4th-july-paradeDowntown La Porte Serves as the Unofficial Capital of Northwest Indiana for 4th of July Celebrations

If you are from Northwest Indiana, you know La Porte is the place to be for the 4th of July weekend. The lakes are nonstop busy, the restaurants are delicious, the music is great, and the parade is a day to remember. The La Porte Jaycee's have a plethora of activities going on including the parade on the 4th at 10am, beer barns, and a huge raffle. Downtown will be featuring a Sidewalk Sale July 6th from 10am to 5pm so come down for your weekend away and do a little shopping in great downtown La Porte!

2nd Annual Taste of La Porte

Applications to be a food vendor and sponsorships are now available for the 2nd Annual Taste of La Porte! Sponsorships and donations are welcome to assist in making this event great for the downtown community. Last year, we saw well over 1,000 people and 8 food vendors. Enjoy music, food, fun, and a free shuttle to and from the Blues Fest of La Porte County and around downtown!

2nd Saturdays Music Mix!

La Porte continues its 2nd Saturday season in the Downtown area of State, Lincolnway & Jefferson Avenues with the theme Music Mix. Many businesses will feature great tunes, deals, discounts and refreshments. Enjoy your evening out on the town from 5pm to 7pm, July 13.

Rocco’s Classic Gallery located on the 500 block of Lincolnway will be featuring Nashville solo pedal steel guitarist Eddie Gossien. Eddie has been playing professionally for over 30 years in Nashville and has toured with numerous major artists including Mel McDaniel, Wade Hayes, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Darryl Worley, and Tim McGraw. Stop by and meet Eddie and listen to some one-of-a-kind steel licks!

The Music Mix continues at Temple News Agency on Jefferson Avenue with the sweet singing (and playing) duo of Genna & Jesse. Traveling in from San Francisco for their 3rd visit to Temple, their mix of original music, spectacular harmony and friendly interaction with the audience is something you won't want to miss.

Volunteer for a Better Main Street-Come for the coffee, stay for the ideas!

Downtown La Porte is now an official Main Street community which means it is crucial to have the volunteerism of great people like yourself. Focusing on the four point approach of Design, Organization, Economic Restructuring and Promotions, the Downtown Coordinator will be meeting up with downtown business owners, volunteer and general public to discuss these topics and move forward on the efforts of the community. The next meet up is July 17th at 8am at B & J's American Cafe. Come for coffee, stay to share ideas!
