Downtown Cookie Walk and More Brings Holiday Cheer in Downtown La Porte

cookie-walkAs the giant Santa and holiday tree are being erected in Downtown La Porte so is the holiday cheer as the commence of the shopping season arrives. Downtown businesses are hosting a slew of activities for visitors and families to enjoy in celebration of the season. It all begins with the Holiday Storefront Competition November 22nd which showcases several businesses competing for the top prize.

Pictures of the participating windows will be posted to the Downtown La Porte Facebook page November 22nd. The picture with the most Likes and Shares will be awarded the People’s Choice Award and winners of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place will be announced December 22nd. Select downtown businesses will also be giving back during the month of December, housing gold donation boxes for the La Porte County Small Animal Shelter or the Salvation Army.

Santa comes to town on Small Business Saturday, November 30, 2013, at noon with the Santa Parade downtown and will be available every Saturday in his Chalet from 11am to 2pm located in the Chamber Square, 803 Washington Street. Free train rides will also be held by the Chalet.

New for 2013, during the Downtown Holiday Open House December 14th, will be the 1st Annual Downtown Cookie Walk. For $5.00 and limited to the first 100 attendees, custom La Porte tins(Picture Attached) will be available for purchase at the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce, 803 Washington Street and the tin will come with a list of participating businesses with cookies to help fill their custom tin.
