Decoys Dedication to the Salvation Army Unprecedented

decoys-salvation-armyOnce again Decoys Restaurant & Bar organizes our community to aide The Salvation Army Food Pantry Of Michigan City. Raising an impressive $3,820.00 this year in their annual Big Cup Golf Scramble.

Now in its 7th year they have donated a total $12,270.00 to this local charity. Don Gardner Manager of his family’s business said. “We only take credit for organizing the event, which continues to grow each year, the involvement of our golfer’s, sponsor’s and volunteer’s is what sets the bar for fundraiser in our community!”

“We would like to thank Decoys for their continued support of Michigan City’s Food Pantry,” Lt. Bill Brutto said. “With these donations each year they have helped us continue to feed over 900 hungry families every month. Being even more important as we enter into the holiday season.”

One hundred and twenty eight golfers participated in this year’s event at the Michigan City Municipal Golf Course on September 14th, where each paid a $75 registration fee to cover the cost of golf and food. After those cost were calculated the remaining money was pooled and donated.

In addition, 21 businesses and individuals sponsored the 18 holes at the course. Sponsors included Indiana Beverage, Shady Creek Winery, Callan & Woodworth Moving and Storage, Patch Harborside Heritage Organization, Uptown Limited Auto Sales, Southern Wine & Spirits, Brinckman’s Auto Salvage & Towing, Tom’s Heating and Cooling, Mas & Tbone, Denny’s Tree Service, Pinola Saloon, St. Andrews Products, Stanz Foods, Rocky’s Auto Body Shop, Glazer Distributor’s, Worthley Law,United Beverage Company, Chris’s Care Care, Chuck & Sheri Hendrick’s, Republic National Wine & Spirits and Friedrich’s 1 Stop Heating & Cooling.

“I’ve lived and worked in Michigan City all my life,” Mike Gardner owner Decoys said. “I can’t imagine what it would be like to question where my family would get its next meal. Giving back to our community only makes common sense and we’re proud to have that opportunity.
