StateofStateReceptionIndiana Governor Mike Pence recognized the LaPorte County Career and Technical Education program and Director Audra Peterson during the annual State of the State address on Tuesday, January 13, 2015.

Governor Pence acknowledged Mrs. Peterson for being named 2014 Career and Technical Education Director of the Year and for her work in partnership with NIPSCO to create an Energy Pathway for students in La Porte County. He said that opportunities in career and technical education should be made available to more students in the state of Indiana and he called for a focus on Education during this legislative session.

During the event, Mrs. Peterson attended a reception with many of the state’s leaders, spoke with First Lady Karen Pence and Governor Pence and was a special guest seated in the First Lady’s box during the session.

In response to the Governor’s address, Peterson noted, “The demand for career and technical education is real and it is urgent. I see it each and every day, whether collaborating with area employers in need of qualified employees or through the dedication and passion of our students, who are working hard toward a career pathway. A commitment to ensuring our young people are career-ready will make all the difference for Indiana’s future workforce.”
