Get out the princess dresses and ninja turtle costumes. The County Line Orchard in Hobart held their fourth annual trick or treat event.
According to Operations Manager Joe Jamicich, this event is their way of giving back to the community.
“The County Line Orchard is such a nice place,” Jamicich said, “The event is just a way for families to trick or treat in safer conditions.”
The orchard started the event back in 2009 as a free event, and every year has welcomed more than 5,000 children and families. Not only did the families get to enjoy getting buckets full of candy from the over 75 organizations in attendance, there was also a live band, tractor rides, and a corn maze.
According to tour guide Cathy Mitol, the event is really all about giving back and for a safe, free event for the children in the community.
“Things like this event are what bring the community together for a fun and safe night,” Mitol said.
To go along with the thousands of children at the orchard, volunteers were on hand, passing out candy. The South Haven Boys and Girls Club had a booth where not only did they hand out candy, but they handed out business cards, urging children ages six to eighteen to come to their club.
The local Keystone group came along with the club and member Darius Owens sees why volunteering at such events is such a great way to give back.
“The orchard is definitely my favorite community service event we have done this year,” Owens said. “Keystone is all about giving back and we love going out to places like this.”
