Compressors are the beating heart of countless businesses across the globe. “We tailor servicing to our customer’s needs,” said Dean Caldwell, service manager for CompressAir’s Elkhart Branch. “We factor in things like the environment in which your equipment is housed in, your shifts, and what you are manufacturing. All of those questions determine how often your compressor should be serviced.”

CompressAir provides customers with the ability to create customized maintenance agreements–minimizing downtime and managing costs.

“These agreements are tailored to your specific system’s needs and production schedules,” Caldwell said. “We are happy to work with you by providing custom billing options to help you budget your maintenance costs. We can bill the entire year upfront at a discounted rate, bill a set amount monthly, or provide you with lease options that allow you to pay for your compressed air the same way you handle your other utilities.”

There are, of course, some general rules of thumb you can follow in order to protect your compressor. Basic preventative maintenance (PM) should be performed every 2,000 hours or every 6 months–whichever comes first. It includes work such as replacing oil and air filters, blowing out coolers, analyzing oil samples, inspecting drive couplings, and more. Full PM is done every 8,000 hours or 12 months and adds in additional tasks such as replacing separators and lubricant and greasing motor bearings.

“When our sales team sells a piece of equipment, they also educate customers on the importance of maintaining their new equipment,” Caldwell said. “If they aren’t keeping up on their servicing, then major components start to wear down and could hurt the machine’s efficiency or even cause it to shut down. Air compressors are the fourth utility in the manufacturing and other industries this means that without it there will be no production happening.”

In those emergency situations, CompressAir’s technicians are on 24/7 to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

“Our technicians are stocked with repair and maintenance parts on their vehicles,” Caldwell said. “Our parts department has a large inventory of most repair and maintenance parts, not only for Sullair, but also most other makes and models of compressed air equipment.”

CompressAir’s team of technicians has a combined 210 years of experience in the compressor industry, equipping them to handle any situation.

“All of our service technicians have been to Sullair’s certification classes as well as yearly continued education courses,” Caldwell said. “Most of our technicians have certification for refrigeration, which is important for those customers who use refrigerated air dryers, as well as other competitor equipment. They are also part of the 150 Union, which provides a lot of other benefits both for them and CompressAir.”
