CompressAir gives back to local communities – during the holidays and beyond

It is the season of giving, and businesses around the Region are finding ways to make a difference around their communities during the holidays. Toy, coat, and food drives, collaborations with nonprofits, Angel Trees and much more – all of these are common sights as the calendar flips to December.

CompressAir, a family-owned business that has served Northern Indiana and Chicagoland for decades, counts itself among those organizations looking to make a difference. Every holiday season, its team finds a way to help less fortunate children enjoy Christmas. In recent years, CompressAir has collaborated with the annual Deserving Children Shopping Tour.

Hosted by the La Porte County Association of Realtors, the tour is an event with over five decades of history. With the help of businesses such as CompressAir, who donate bags and other goods, it gives over 600 children in LaPorte County winter supplies, a hot meal, and a chaperoned shopping trip at Walmart or Meijer. Last year, the children were given a $150 budget to buy goodies for themselves.

CompressAir stretches beyond the holidays, and its team takes part in different charitable initiatives and sponsorships throughout the year. One of its other annual efforts is supporting Operation Feed LaPorte County, a program that supports local 4-H students and donates meat to local food pantries.

Two CompressAir staff members are on the board of the organization. The unique part of its operation takes place during the La Porte County Fair, when it uses donations from businesses and other organizations such as CompressAir to purchase and process 4-H animals. This year, it donated a record 8,000 pounds of beef, chicken, pork, lamb, turkey, and goat meat to food pantries around La Porte County, in addition to 7,000 pounds of nonperishable goods.

CompressAir does a number of other, smaller givebacks throughout the year. It sponsors the teams of its employee’s children, from youth sports to school robotics. It also works with Sullair to offer the compressor giant’s interns tours of local manufacturers that utilize compressors, and offers them insight into the ins and outs of the distribution side of the compressed air business.

As a locally owned and operated business with a staff that lives and works in the Region, CompressAir is committed to doing what it can to give back to the community. To learn more about it and its services, visit compressair.net.
