Community Spotlight Fundraiser Takes Place in Michigan City

SalvationArmyFundraisor3Last week Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer sponsored a beneficial fundraiser for the Salvation Army, which took place on Friday night. The proceeds from all tickets sold were given directly to the food pantry. The event was held at the Michigan City Senior Center.

Businesses from the Uptown Art District, Michigan City Area Schools, Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Marquette High School, Purdue North Central and many more were featured during the evening. Many vendors donated their time and services for the good cause.

Mayor Meer, Charlie Roberts of Horizon Bank, Beth Pishkur of the Michigan City Area Schools Board, MC Schools Public Information Director Betsy Kohn, Michigan City Councilman Willie Milsap, Salvation Army Community Services Director DeNita Ton, NIPSCO Community Relations Directors Angie Nelson and Don Babcock and Senior Center Director Julie Wozniak were all in attendance.SalvationArmyFundraisor2

The crowd that gathered for the benefit was treated to a performance by the Young People’s Theatre, directed by Stan Holdcraft. Another entertainer was a young man by the name of Lamar Hodges, who recited his own poetry. An art sale also took place with 10 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Salvation Army Food Pantry.
