The Weight No More Support Group provides support and information to those who have had or are thinking about having weight-loss surgery. It will meet on April 1 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Community Hospital Medical Office Building, located at 801 MacArthur Blvd, Munster, Ind.

Free Class for Athletes
A Community Hospital physical therapist will discuss the causes and prevention of the most common ankle injuries affecting the athlete. Common Ankle Injuries in the Athlete will be held on April 6 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Community Hospital Outpatient Centre, located at 9660 Wicker Ave, St. John, Ind.

Taking Steps to Prevent Type 2 Diabetes will be held on April 6 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Community Hospital, located at 901 MacArthur Blvd., Munster, Ind. Learn what steps to take to prevent Type 2 Diabetes with guidance from a Registered Dietitian and Registered Nurse.

2015 Cancer Survivorship Series – Living with, though, and beyond Cancer!

St. Mary Medical Center’s Cancer Survivorship series offers informative presentations and useful resources for anyone whose life has been impacted by cancer. This ongoing series will focus on issues of living with, through and beyond cancer for newly diagnosed individuals, long-term survivors, as well as family members, loved ones and caretakers.

Nancy Beckman, Ph.D., Amy Siston, Ph.D., and Pooja N. Dave, M.A, members of the University of Chicago’s Psycho-oncology team will explore psychological issues including anxiety, depression, and coping. There will also be tips on ways to promote improved mood, health behaviors, and quality of life among cancer patients. Presentation will be held at 10am.
