Community Healthcare System offers PVD screenings this fall

Two upcoming screenings offered through Community Healthcare System will give attendees immediate results about possible blockages in their arteries and veins.

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) screenings will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 21 at St. Catherine Hospital, 4321 Fir St., East Chicago, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2 at Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, 10215 Broadway, Crown Point.

PVD is a common vascular condition that occurs when veins or arteries are narrowed or blocked, usually due to a buildup of plaque, eventually leading to inadequate blood supply to the limbs and/or organs. The screening involves checking a person’s arteries and veins in the legs for signs of blockages.

Registration is required for these free screenings. Call 219-836-3477 to register.
