The Michigan City High School Parent Network is sponsoring a workshop on Thursday, September 27, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. to help families learn more about the many ways to help pay for college. It will be held at the MCHS Auditorium and is free.
The college planning workshop is designed for parents and grandparents who are within a few years of sending a child or grandchild to college. Attendees will learn about national, state and local scholarships, along with other sources of financial aid, including the 21st Century Scholars program. Presenters will give tips on avoiding costly financial aid mistakes, completing the FAFSA, negotiating a financial aid awards package, and avoiding scams. Parents who have attended this workshop in the past strongly recommend it to others.
Presenters include MCHS guidance counselors and representatives of the Unity Foundation of LaPorte County and Purdue University North Central.
