Changing Footprints Shoe Drive

SHOES WILL GO TO DISASTER-STRICKEN, HOMELESS & UNDER-PRIVILEGED.

Collection boxes are located in the Main Lobby of Franciscan Health Fitness Centers, 810 Michael Drive, Chesterton, IN.

Changing Footprints, a Green organization, our recycling partner, accepts any kind, any size, any condition pairs of shoes. Damaged shoes are repurposed into playground materials and do not end up in a landfill.

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Bind the pairs of shoes or boots together by their shoe strings, a rubber band or any other type of string.
  • Do not put the shoes in a plastic bag.
  • Deposit shoes into our tote in the Main Lobby of the Chesterton location.

FYI - a little information about our Friends at Changing Footprints. They...

...collect previously worn and new shoes for distribution to the homeless, disaster-stricken, and under-priviledged people at home and abroad regardless of race, religion, gender or ethnicity.

...are a GREEN Organization. 50+ tons of used shoes (100,000 pairs) have been repurposed and did NOT end up in a landfill - they were donated locally across the U.S. and to 17 countries overseas!

...are also a VALUES organization. They offer the opportunity for children 5 and up to learn the joy of helping others through collecting and sorting shoes.

...are SOCIAL JUSTICE organization. They provide shoes to prison release programs, domestic abuse shelters, job placement organizations and more than 50 IPS after-school groups. In addition, they supply shoes to over 100 Indiana Organizations including low income assistance, children's services, immigrant resettlement, school programs, homeless services, disaster relief and employment training.

You are welcome to donate any kind, any size, any condition -  snow boots - soccer shoes - flip-flops - Crocs - dance shoes - slippers - sandals - sport shoes - high heels - baby shoes - cleats - work boots. 

Damaged shoes are converted into playgrounds.
