Challenger Learning Center to Host May Second Saturday Event

Challenger-Learning-CenterThe Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana will host its monthly Second Saturday Family Science Program on Saturday, May 10. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., guests can participate in a hands-on activity followed by a planetarium and laser light show. Cost to participate is $12 for adults and $10 for children.

During the Hands-on Family Science activity, participants will look a little more deeply into the stars and constellations and learn what to look for when looking up at the night sky during summer.

The planetarium show, “Sky Quest,” is an exploration of the stars, planets and constellations told from the viewpoint of an astronomer. Attendees will also be shown easy-to-use stargazing tips to find points of interest in the skies over southern Lake Michigan during “South Shore Skies.”

The laser light show, “Lasermania,” will feature music from more than five decades, including the songs “Men in Black,” “Under the Milky Way,” and the “Mortal Kombat” theme song.

Attendees may purchase tickets to see just the laser light show or planetarium show for $5 for adults or $3 for children. A special package including both shows is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Individual planetarium shows begin at 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Individual laser light shows begin at 3:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
