Challenger Learning Center Plans Storytelling, Planetarium Shows

Challenger-Learning-CenterSecond Saturday Family Science Program offers activities for families

The Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana will be offering its Second Saturday Family Science Program on Saturday, March 8. Families can enjoy a storytelling session, Stories Under the Stars, a planetarium show and a laser light show.

During Stories Under the Stars, master storyteller Grant Fitch will bring Native American constellation stories to life under the dome at the Challenger Learning Center’s planetarium. Following the story session, attendees can stay for the planetarium show Earth, Moon and Sun and the laser light show iPop Laser. The Second Saturday Family Science event begins at 3:15 p.m. and costs $12 for adults and $10 for children.

Earth, Moon and Sun explores the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun with the help of Coyote, an amusing character adopted from Native American oral traditions, who has many misconceptions about our home planet and its most familiar neighbors.

After the planetarium show, iPop Laser will feature light art set to the music of popular artists like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, the Black Eyed Peas and more.

Those not wishing to participate in Stories Under the Stars may purchase tickets to either the laser light show or planetarium show at $5 for adults or $3 for children. A special package including both shows is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Individual planetarium shows begin at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Individual laser light shows begin at 2:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
