Title: Social Media & Communications Assistant

Part-time position (28 hours/week)


Reports To: Communications Manager

Status: Non-exempt


Ideal candidate will provide support to small nonprofit communications department in order to increase organization’s brands and visibility. Candidate will work to enhance brand and build strong online communities across multiple platforms for CWI and three of its initiatives (WorkOne/NWIWB, READY NWI, Adult Education). In addition, candidate will provide direct support on special projects needing communications and marketing assistance.


Social Media

  • Monitor social media accounts and content for four initiatives across multiple platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)
  • Collaborate with communications team to create engaging platform-specific content
  • Collaborate with communications team to create social media calendar
  • Interact with users/visitors, responding to messages, inquiries, and comments
  • Review and report on key metrics
  • Expand and maintain our social media presence while exploring growth strategies through other digital platforms
  • Explore and recommend a social media management tools, e.g., Hootsuite, Sprinklr

General Communications & Marketing

  • Provide communications/marketing support on special projects. This may include attending meetings, writing and developing awareness pieces (flyers, brochures, press releases, success stories), and development of social media campaigns
  • Other administrative duties as required by Communications Manager, Communications Coordinator, special project manager, e.g., updating and creating contact lists, mailings, recording minutes, outreach efforts


Academic Credentials
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Communications or job related area

Work Experience Requirements
One to two years of experience with social media and content development. Creative design sense.

Other Requirements
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
Excellent written and verbal skills
High level of organizational skills
Ability to multitask

Creative sense and an interest in simple graphic design a plus
